Mar 27, · On "No Main Topic" he battle raps and exclaims that the only way to get him is with a gun. He rightly boasts about his rap skills with a slick butta flow. He then goes on about the mass confusion of being chased and caught by one-time (police) in what else "Constables" with a menacing drum laden beat.

OC turns to be bitter in Ga Head (lovely jazzy finesse), after that Organized Konfusion arrives as the only LP's guest: Prince Po closes No Main Topic – unique verse on a production difficult to digest (Dj Ogee) – and Pharoahe Monch is in the hook of Let It Slide, OC's .

The album doesn't need guests cause O.C. can hold it down without a problem, he's just got enough everyday street-type rhymes to never get redundant. The standout of the album is "Time's Up" which has been quoted as much as a Rakim song, O.C. really goes .

AllMusic editor M.F. DiBella said that Word Life signaled "the arrival of one of modern rap's more gifted storytelling lyricists", noting how O.C. delivers the "East Coast B-boyism" found in "Time's Up" but excels on "Born to Live" and the more "existential subject matter" on the record thanks to Organized Konfusion providing "thought-provoking intellectual diversity" throughout the record.
